Zoe, thank you for interviewing with We Are Entertainment News today. We see that you got bit by the acting bug at a young age. Can you tell us about your history with acting? For example, how old were you, and did you act on stage and/or screen?

When I was 8, I joined a musical theater group and immediately got the acting bug! I love the idea of taking words from a script and bringing characters to life. I’ve always admired watching amazing actresses across television and movie screens, and I knew that with experience and focus, I could do the same! I started to pay greater attention to the techniques they used, how they looked when they showed emotions and how they carried themselves, both on and off the screen. I was introduced to my agent as a young teen and started auditioning for roles. At the time, the roles that I was auditioning for weren’t very inclusive, and so the curvy, curly-haired girl with freckles and braces wasn’t booking any roles! At 13, I decided to take matters into my own hands and began posting videos online! Fast forward, years later, I’m still posting videos online, and I’m so grateful to see that the entertainment industry has become more inclusive. With that, so many more auditions and opportunities have come my way. I’m so excited to see what the future holds.

That’s amazing! So, when you started your own YouTube videos, where did you get the inspiration to become a “big sister” to your subscribers? Your page is great because you provide advice and share how-tos about your life.

I started posting YouTube videos for fun. I liked developing characters, being silly, and taking part in all the trending challenges all the other Youtuber’s were taking part in. I realized that a lot of the comments I was getting from my videos were questions from my younger audience about how I did my hair, makeup, what to do if they had a crush, etc. I have a younger brother, and I realized that I didn’t grow up getting big sister advice, and it seems a lot of my viewers didn’t either. So, I started making most of my videos about how I did things and giving advice and kept in the silly, the characters, and the fun!

It’s paying off because you have over 15,000 subscribers! What is one of your most memorable reactions or responses to your videos that you have received from one of your fans?

I’ve had very memorable responses and reactions from fans. But my favorites are always the ones that tell me that they were feeling alone, and my videos made them feel like they were hanging out with a good friend. That’s what I’ve always wanted my videos to accomplish!

You were selected to be the youngest participant in YouTube’s Women in Comedy Program in partnership with Elizabeth Bank’s Production Company WhoHaHa. Congrats! Tell us about your love for comedy. Who are some of your favorite comedians or television comedy shows?

Comedy makes people feel good. It makes us laugh, releases endorphins, and shifts our mood. My favorite comedians are Amy Schumer, Tiffany Haddish, Melissa McCarthy and the entire SNL cast!

Great choices! In addition to acting, you have also produced and directed your videos. We’d love to hear more about that.

I’ve made hundreds of videos! They range from comedies to authentic how-to’s, DIYs, and big-sister advice. The videos that I’m most proud of producing are those where I play more than one character. Here is a video where I played myself and another character named Felicia: How to Find Your Confidence here.

Tiktok is one of your favorite pastimes. Do you have any favorite TikTokers?

I spend a lot of time on TikTok and genuinely love watching relatable, funny, and shocking videos from everyone. That’s the beauty of TikTok. You don’t have to be famous to make good content. Everyone has the chance to go viral.

What’s next for you, Zoe Nazarian?

I wish I had a crystal ball that could answer this question for me! But for now, I’m in college, working on content for my socials, and auditioning as much as I can.

There you have it, folks! If you’d like to keep up with Zoe Nazarian, follow her social media platforms that will be listed below. Thanks again for chatting with WAEN today, Zoe!
